Classification of gun drilling tools

There are all in together four kinds of gun drills:single-edged welding gun drill,single-edged step drill,double-edged gun drill and coating gun drill. And for us, the most popular are these two kinds:single-edged welding gun drill and coating gun drill.

For the single-edged gun drill, it’s most common use type. Drill stem and drill shank are heat treated. Drill bits, drill stem and drill shank are welded as a whole.

  For the coating gun drill,its advantages are as follows:high surface hardness, good abrasion performance, stable chemical propertied, small friction factor and lower thermal conductivity etc. The cutting performance is 30% higher than non-coated tool. Promote grade 0.5-1 of processing accuracy. Prolong the gun drill’s service life and lower 20%-50% of tool’s consumption cost. The normal coating contains TiN,TiAlN and so on.
